Wongan Hills is a short drive from Perth, just 184 kilometres. The area has a population of approximately 1500 people, with the majority employed in agriculture and supporting industries. The town is a large producer of cereal crops, with livestock also an important industry. Several large agricultural machinery manufacturers are also based in Wongan Hills.
Wongan Hills has excellent sports and recreational facilities which offer a wide range of activities and club events. Cultural and art interests are also catered for by an art gallery, museum and several arts, crafts and theatre groups. The town has a district high school and additional educational facilities, such as TAFE, are accessible through the Telecentre.
