Wheatbelt Mental Health Service


Who can we help?
The Wheatbelt Mental Health Service provides care to infants, children, adolescents, adults and seniors with a range of mental health problems including depression, anxiety, stress reactions, psychotic disorders, mood disorders, disabling phobias, eating disorders and thoughts of suicide.

How to get Help
The service is free and confidential. People can self refer by contacting the triage officer on 96210999. Referrals can also come from many sources, including GP’s, hospitals, multi purpose services, other health care professionals, carers or families, other community services and other government departments.

Where are services provided
All services are available Mon-Fri 8.30am - 4.30 pm excluding public holidays and are provided in many facilities across the Wheatbelt including the Northam Mental Health Office and satellite offices in Moora, Merredin and Quairading.

Triage Officer / Mental Health Info Service
The Triage Officer service is available by phoning 96210999. Triage officer’s are senior mental health professionals and can provide information about mental health issues, advise which services can assist with specific problems, facilitate entry to the service for assessment and treatment, organize assistance in times of crisis, support consumers and carers, and provide advice to other professionals.

Adult and Seniors Mental Health Program
The program works in close liaison with a range of community agencies and GP’s. The service provides assessment and treatment services to over 18’s with a range of psychiatric disorders.

Children & Adolescents Mental Health Program
The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Programme provides assessment and treatment services to the under 18’s with a range of psychiatric disorders. The programme works in close liaison with school psychologists and other youth services and provides assessments, counselling, treatment and includes support to parents, teachers, and other health care professionals.

Who can help you?
The mental health team includes a diverse range of professionals including Consultant Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Social Workers, Child and Adolescent Professionals, Comprehensive Nurses and Community Mental Health Nurses.

After hours help?
Rurallink is a specialist after-hours mental health telephone service for the rural communities of Western Australia. They operate 4:30pm to 8:30am Monday to Friday, 24 hours on weekends and public holidays, and can be contacted on 1800 552 002 or TTY 1800 720 101.
